Australian Genesis GV60 Electric 2023 – how much luggage and shopping fits in the boot and frunk?

If you’re wondering how much boot and frunk storage space the Australian Genesis GV60 (2023 model) has, it’s listed as 432 litres cargo capacity VDA (under cargo cover) with back seats up.

In comparison with other cars built on the E-GMP platform (Hyundai Ioniq 5 527 litres, KIA EV6 490 litres, Hyundai Ioniq 6 401 litres) my media loan for review Genesis GV60 wasn’t the worst for boot space but it’s certainly not huge either.

Considering the price for this car is well over $100,000 I guess Hyundai thinks it will likely be purchased by wealthy singles or couples who don’t need a huge boot and they won’t use it as a 4-5 person family transport car so 432 litres is enough.

As a hatchback it’s easy to access the boot once the lid is lifted.

The powered boot lid has 2 buttons to either just shut it or shut it and lock the car as well so you can walk away.

I forgot to take a photo of the frunk but it is quite small anyway at 20 litres so you won’t fit much in there. The reason for the small frunk is because Genesis GV60 Electric 2023 Australian models are AWD so the second motor takes up space in the front.

As you can see below the boot is well lit if you need to access it at night.

There is a cargo cover and it is easy to remove if you want to fill the boot to a higher level, doing so may block the rear window vision.

At left of the boot there is a light and 2 loops to attach the cargo net to.

At right there is a light, 2 more loops for the cargo net and a 12V 180W cigarette lighter socket.

The removable boot floor bends in the middle. Once removed completely you can access the full range of included accessories: 230V 12 amp charging cable, tyre goo kit, first aid kit, V2L adaptor and the cargo net.

I managed to fit in the test luggage listed below without blocking the rear vision but I did have to remove the cargo cover to do it:

  • 2 x medium sized suitcases
  • 2 x carry on luggage
  • 2 x backpack

There was just enough space left to squish in my 7m Type 2 to Type 2 cable on the side.

On two occasions while getting gardening supplies I managed to fit the following pictured items in:

  1. 6 x 50 litre bags of bark mulch
  2. 2x compressed sugarcane mulch blocks and several paving tiles.
