I spent a week of real test drive time with the Zeekr 7X rear-wheel drive base model. Not the flashy all-wheel drive version most reviewers focus on. The base model. The one buyers with a smaller budget will consider.
Here’s the thing. It doesn’t feel like a base model car in the way that legacy car brand base models do. The seats are comfortable, the screens are responsive, and there are features in here that other car brands save for their top specs. Heated seats for all four passengers. A powered tailgate. Dual wireless charging. These are not things you’d normally expect at this price point.
But it’s not perfect. There are things that frustrated me, one of them in particular that I had to get out of the car and crouch down low just to use. There’s also a fair bit of a certain finish that looks great for about ten seconds before it starts collecting dust and fingerprints. I’ll let you see that for yourself.
I also go through features that most reviewers skip. Things that make a real difference to daily life. The interior camera that lets you check on pets or passengers. The welcome light and sound show you can adjust or turn off completely. How sentry mode actually works in this car, and what it won’t catch. Where the only 12-volt socket is hiding.
The efficiency number surprised me. I was expecting worse. The real-world figure I recorded tells a more honest story than a spec sheet.
