My dad picked up his first electric car purchase recently, A Kia EV3 Air Long Range from Paul Wakeling Kia in Campbelltown. He paid less than the sticker price, thanks to a deal that was only available for a short time. I was there to film the whole thing.
Elie from the dealership walked us through the car in detail. A real hands-on handover, not just “here are your keys, good luck.” There were things he showed us that I didn’t even know about, and I’ve driven the EV3 extensively myself.
Some of it was practical. How to unlock the car if the battery goes flat. A hidden keyhole most people never find. How to silence that speed limit beep without turning off the warning entirely. Small things, but the kind you’re glad to know before you need them.
He also walked dad through the bigger stuff. Regenerative braking, drive modes, the driver attention camera watching you from the dash, lane assist, the SOS button that calls emergency services with your GPS location if something goes wrong.
Dad’s planning to use this car to take mum on all the trips they’ve been wanting to do. That part made me smile.
