When my original solar installer let me down during the rush of inquiries following the new 30% federal battery rebate, I needed to find a team capable of handling something special.
What I ended up with was not just a battery installation but Australia’s first single-phase Anker SOLIX X1 system featuring two hybrid inverters working together in parallel as a virtual 10kW inverter with 4 MPPT (strings of solar panels) in total.

Making History with Parallel Inverters
Ian, Leigh and Campbell from RESINC Solar arrived at my Inner West Sydney home to install what would become a groundbreaking system.
Previously, Anker SOLIX X1 single phase installations were limited to one single-phase inverter per property. If you wanted to expand beyond that, you’d need a third-party inverter and AC coupling arrangement. That all changed with my installation.
An Anker SOLIX X1 single‑phase battery system now supports parallel connection – meaning you can pair two systems in the same series to double the output and backup capacity. That’s up to 10 kW power (not 12kW) and up to 60 kWh storage (up to 30kWh per inverter), giving you more energy for more scenarios.
My system comprises 2 x 5kW DC hybrid inverters working in parallel as a 10kW virtual inverter whilst on-grid, paired with 6 x 5kWh battery modules totalling 30kWh of storage capacity.
During off-grid operation, the two 5kW inverters act separately to maintain power supply.
The setup includes 4 MPPT inputs allowing for four strings of solar panels, all mounted on two metal custom wall brackets designed specifically for the SOLIX X1 system.

Why RESINC Solar & Install Video Step By Step
After my local installer couldn’t cope with the volume of inquiries, I searched online for alternatives.
RESINC Solar stood out immediately with the highest ratings on Solar Quotes of any installer in Australia.
What really caught my attention on top of so many happy 5 star reviews was their community commitment.
RESINC Solar has provided approximately A$1.5 million worth of solar and batteries at minimal cost to surf clubs along the New South Wales and southeast Queensland coast, saving these clubs around A$300,000 annually in electricity costs.
This money goes straight back into community programs, training future lifeguards, and maintaining vital coastal safety services. It’s rare to find a company that balances commercial success with genuine community investment.
Corrections: 4min 6 seconds I incorrectly mentioned that two 5kW single-phase inverters in parallel require two meters. Actually, for DC-coupled systems, only one meter is required. For my house after removing the Sungrow inverter, only one meter was needed in the final installation.
Corrections: 12 min 34 seconds The white light only indicates on-grid status, not internet connection. A flashing white light means the inverter is currently connecting/configuring the internet. On the screen, if the network icon shows an “X”, Wi-Fi is not connected. If there’s no “X”, Wi-Fi is connected properly.
Built for Australian Conditions
The Anker SOLIX X1 proved perfect for RESINC Solar’s surf club installations due to its exceptional durability specifications. The system features C5-M corrosion-resistant coating, specifically designed to handle high salt content and humidity in coastal environments. This makes it ideal not just for beachside properties, but for any Australian home facing harsh weather conditions.
NOTE: Anker SOLIX X1 can be installed indoors or outdoors up to 300m away from the coast. If it needs to be installed at a distance of 50m to 300m, precautions must be taken. See the installer guide for full details.
Superior Environmental Protection
The die-cast metal construction creates an IP66-rated seal, making the system both dust and water resistant. Unlike competitors using plastic enclosures that can become brittle and crack over time, every component of the SOLIX X1 uses the same corrosion-resistant metal, from the power module to the battery modules and even the wall mounting brackets.
Extreme Temperature Performance
Most energy storage systems suffer reduced output when temperatures climb. The SOLIX X1 maintains full performance even at 55°C, thanks to its modular design and advanced cooling system. The operating range extends from -20°C to 55°C, with internal heating for colder regions, ensuring reliable operation across Australia’s diverse climate zones.

The Installation Process
Before installation day, I needed to clear enough space for all the equipment boxes. Each battery module arrives in its own box, along with separate boxes for inverters, mounts, and accessories. RESINC Solar’s team handled all the packaging removal, leaving my property clean.
Ian, one of RESINC’s experienced installers, began by removing my old solar inverter. The preparatory work proved crucial, including installing circuit breakers, a changeover switch, and replacing the old Sungrow consumption monitoring meter with a new meter.
Precision Mounting
The wall mounting process demonstrated Anker’s attention to detail. Each system includes cardboard templates with pre-marked guide holes showing exactly where to drill. Ian used these templates meticulously, sometimes double-checking measurements to ensure perfect alignment. The SOLIX X1’s slim 15cm depth, plus approximately 3cm for the air gap behind the battery stacks when mounted on the wall bracket, means the total protrusion from the wall is just 18cm, ideal for properties with narrow side pathways like mine.
For context, my side pathway is about one metre wide. I chose wall mounting over ground mounting because my property sits on a slope and has pipes running low along the wall. Wall mounting placed the batteries well above these obstacles and any potential flood water, though flooding is unlikely given my hillside location near the top.

Rapid Assembly
The actual battery module installation took approximately one hour, including time for Ian and Leigh to pause and answer my questions for filming purposes. The modular design means each 5kWh battery unit stacks seamlessly with the next. With my 30kWh system, this meant six battery modules arranged in two stacks of three, with each stack topped by one of the hybrid inverter.
The maximum stack height is 3 modules (15kWh). Each complete stack weighs between 170 to 180 kilograms, so proper wall anchoring is essential. RESINC used heavy-duty plugs and screws supplied by Anker, specifically designed for the load requirements.

Solar Panel Configuration
The RESINC Solar team took photos of the solar panel install process. I couldn’t video record the solar panel install because drones can’t be flown near Sydney Airport.
My existing solar array consisted of 24 x 390W Jinko Tiger Neo panels, providing 9.36kW of capacity. Leigh and Ian recommended adding seven new Longi Hi-MO X6 440W panels, contributing an additional 3.08kW. This brings my total solar capacity to 12.44kW across 31 panels.
Leigh made the strategic decision to balance the solar panel capacity across both inverters for optimal performance, particularly during blackouts.

Three Longi panels were carefully installed on an unshaded section of my roof to boost generation reliability.
The four north-west facing Longi panels had Tigo optimisers installed on the back, which significantly improve performance when panels experience partial shading from trees, chimneys, or other obstructions. These optimisers allow each panel to operate independently, preventing shade on one panel from affecting the entire string’s output.

RESINC Solar exclusively uses Longi panels, a decision based on over five years of experience. Leigh emphasised their superior backsheet technology, which seals the rear of each panel to prevent water ingress and moisture damage.
This durability proves especially valuable in Australia’s harsh climates, from humid North Queensland conditions in Cairns and Townsville to coastal surf club installations where salt air is constant.

Smart Energy Management
The SOLIX X1 features an integrated display screen on each battery stack, showing real-time power output, remaining capacity, and PV generation. A white LED indicator shows normal grid-connected operation, turning blue when the system switches to off-grid mode during blackouts. If the WiFi connection drops, the LED flashes to indicate reconnection is needed.
The Anker app provides comprehensive remote monitoring, letting you track energy generation, consumption, and storage from anywhere. The system supports six distinct energy modes, including self-consumption mode to minimise grid usage, time-of-use optimisation to charge when electricity prices are low, and manual off-grid activation.

Installation Timeline and Rewiring
While the physical battery installation took about an hour, RESINC Solar’s team spent approximately two days at my property. The additional time covered essential rewiring work, reconfiguring how my panels connected to accommodate the dual inverter setup. This contrasts sharply with the faster installation timeline for AC-coupled systems, where existing solar inverters and panels remain unchanged and the battery simply connects to the household circuit.
I’m planning to video document an AC-coupled Anker SOLIX X1 installation soon, as a friend with a similar narrow pathway available for battery install was inspired by my installation to add battery storage without changing his existing solar system.

Cable Management and Labelling
Before fitting the covers, I noticed Anker’s exceptional cable management system. Every cable is clearly labelled indicating its function, with colour coding throughout. Specification labels appear on the side of each battery module with comprehensive technical details. The spacing between cables and their routing demonstrates professional engineering, making future maintenance straightforward.
Australia’s energy landscape is rapidly evolving. With electricity prices climbing and renewable energy technology becoming more accessible, home battery systems represent a crucial step toward energy independence. The SOLIX X1’s modular design means homeowners can start with a smaller capacity system and expand as needs grow or budgets allow, with expansion possible up to 30kWh per inverter or 60kWh total with parallel inverters.
