I don’t usually walk into car dealerships. But this one caught my attention straight away. It sits right next to a petrol station and with fuel prices sky rocketing right now, that location makes a pretty clear point before you even step inside.
I got a proper look at two GAC electric cars: the Aion UT hatchback and the Aion V SUV.
Both are aimed squarely at buyers who want an affordable, practical EV without spending big. I went through both of them inside and out, checking the boot space, the back seat room, the screens, the storage, and a few smaller details that tend to get glossed over.
Some things genuinely impressed me. The back seat air vents are a nice touch. The driver information display is a good size and easy to read. Heated and ventilated seats make it onto even the base model. But not everything is perfect.
The boot setups are different between the UT and the V, and I went through both carefully. There’s a spare wheel question that GAC hasn’t fully answered yet. I also sat in the back seat behind myself and told you honestly what that felt like.
GAC plans to open a lot of dealerships across Australia in 2026 onwards.
Whether the after-sales and servicing support can match that ambition is a fair question. But at this price point, these two cars are hard to ignore.
